Treatment of varicose veins with leeches and bees. Benefit or harm?
27 apr 2015
100% HARM. "Treatment" with leeches (hirudotherapy) or bee venom (apitherapy) will never bring you any benefit. The worst thing is that the aforementioned “treatment” methods only harm chronic venous diseases. At the time of Zemstvo doctors, these methods took place, but then there was no evidence-based medicine, compression hosiery, endovasal laser, etc. What do the “phlebologists-duremars” say - the leech saliva contains the active substance hirudin, which, when it enters the blood, dilutes it. And who told you that blood for varicose veins must be diluted? Who said that you have thick blood at all? Maybe you have a coagulogram determined? Of course not! The main goal of the treatment of varicose veins should be aimed at reducing blood stasis and normalizing venous outflow, but not at all to thin the blood. And keloid scars and trophic ulcers after hirudotherapy occur in 60-90% of patients, symptoms of venous insufficiency progress in 100% of cases.
What beekeepers entice poor people with? But the argument is the same, in the bee venom is hirudin, which dissolves blood clots in the veins, and with repeated sessions it reduces varicose nodes and venous networks. This is a lie! This pseudo-treatment method is extremely dangerous; a bee sting near varicose veins can provoke thrombophlebitis, perforating vein thrombosis and deep vein thrombosis. A large amount of bee venom entering the venous bloodstream can cause an allergic reaction (anaphylactic shock, Quincke's edema ...) with a fatal outcome.
These methods of "treatment" are real charlatanism. And they will never bring benefits for varicose veins.
